Welcome to the Librarian’s Desk.
Aiding Rejuvenation 4 Kommunities Inc is a 501(c)(3) research nonprofit (EIN 93-3788744) working since October 2023 across thirteen pillars: water, soil, energy, animals, health, memory and community. Every claim here leads to the evidence behind it. Choose a volume.

The Desert Field Trial
Borrego Springs sits on a critically overdrafted groundwater basin. At Ark Unit 1, a 0.79-acre occupied homestead, we are setting up a replicated comparison of three bed designs: hugelkultur, deep-mulched and flat. Soil moisture, water demand and plant performance will be measured, every dataset released as open data, and results taken to growers at public field days.
The trial builds on systems already running here: orchard restoration, solar with battery storage, evaporative cooling, rescued animals and daily field records.
One Monsoon Morning
Twelve photos, 6:51 to 7:18 AM PT. Runoff pooled outside the rock berm while the yard behind it held no standing water. Sheet flow traced exactly where the next swales belong. And two things went wrong: 50 lb of dog food and a batch of sun-drying apples.
We publish the failures with the successes. A perfect record isn’t a believable one.
Our History
We are not new. The work began in Descanso, California, in October 2023, where the first restoration designs were drawn: contour swales, a rain-capture garden with a pond, berry zones and grain beds. It continues at Ark Unit 1 in Borrego Springs.
Dates marked UNVERIFIED come from filing labels and still need checking against original posts. We would rather say so than overstate.

What Your Support Funds
Every line below connects to work you can see on this site. We list real needs and leave the price tags off until each line is quoted.
| Budget line | What it buys | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Field trial instruments | Soil moisture sensors and metered drip irrigation for every bed, so water use is measured, not guessed. | Trial design |
| Fencing and windbreaks | Plot protection from wildlife and wind; pallet windbreaks already donated. | In place |
| Mulch and biomass operations | Chipper operation and maintenance to turn on-site prunings into mulch and hugelkultur wood. | Monsoon report |
| Animal care infrastructure | Sealed, raised feed storage and a covered drying rack, lessons from Oct 11. | Animal welfare |
| Education and field days | Public field days and printed results for local growers and residents. | Back to the community |
| Library and archive | Hosting and curation of the open research library and data. | Library |
| Community energy | Solar, storage and evaporative cooling demonstrations for desert households. | Ark Unit 1 |
Partners & Ethics
Local businesses already at work
A hardware store donates pallets and materials, a soil hauler delivers soil, a business has pledged building materials and a mulch business has offered mulch.
Animals are residents, not subjects
Rescued chickens, dogs and cats live in the system under our animal-welfare and ethical research principle.
Open data, honest failures
Datasets are released openly. Field observations are labeled qualitative. Mistakes are published.
Step into the World
Thirteen pillars, each with a guardian. People remember a story long after they forget a lecture, so the science comes with characters, and every chamber leads back to the research.
